Sara supports scientist-founded synthetic biology/industrial biotech companies that have the potential to change the world. She helps these early-stage companies develop their IP strategy ready for fundraising. On the flipside, she also helps investors with due diligence into biotech companies ahead of investment. An academic for many years, Sara knows that academics do not always give IP the consideration it deserves. She has a passion for educating them about the fundamentals – and critical importance – of IP. She also leads talks and workshops with universities and accelerator programmes.
Sara was appointed to the UK Government’s Department for Science, Innovation and Technology Engineering Biology Steering Group (now the Engineering Biology Advisory Panel). She is vice chair of the Associations’ Engineering Biology Advisory Committee (EBAC) and a member of the Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre’s Governing Board. She mentors for Science Entrepreneur Club, Forest City Synbio (Canada), iGEM Startups, ProVeg and others.

With a broad expertise that ranges from synthetic biology to clinical diagnostics and agritech, Rob supports scientist-founders, academic institutions, and industry to turn cutting-edge ideas into real-world impact.
Throughout his undergraduate degree, PhD, and several summer studentships at the University of Leeds, Rob developed an extensive technical experience in microbiology, cell biology, genetics, structural biology, and drug discovery. Using his technical expertise, Rob works closely with diverse clients from early-stage companies to established multinationals to identify and protect IP; develop robust IP strategies; and prepare for fundraising.
In addition to client work, Rob regularly provides IP education sessions for students and academics; mentors for Science Entrepreneur Club, Forest City Synbio (Canada), and Nucleate; and gives careers talks, including as a speaker at a PhD careers event at The Royal Society.

Ashley is a qualified data science and analytics professional (MSc) with extensive domain expertise of patent and design searching, working in the patent research industry for over 15 years across multiple disciplines. Before founding Inevus Advanced Analytics in 2023, Ashley worked with patent attorney firms and multiple institutions delivering patentability, invalidity, bioinformatics, FTO and landscaping research.
A recent data science masters project with the UK patent office enabled Ashley to develop extensive experience of bespoke analytics using data engineering and statistical modelling to investigate UK innovative hubs via IP & geolocation data with applied statistics. A member of the Operational Research Society, Ashley is passionate about delivering customer focused and innovative services across intellectual property research and analytics.
